Tom Hardy for JustGiving Fundraiser of the Year

This has been posted about in several places (yay) but allow me to note again that you can vote for Tom in the JustGiving and Huffington Post UK Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year awards. Tom is nominated for his drive across Siberia, which raised a fantastic £40,000+ for Cambridge homeless charity Flack, of which Tom is a founding patron.

(A little history, via BBC: Flack was set up to replace and expand on services provided by the Willow Walker, a magazine for and by homeless people in Cambridge.

The Willow Walker was initially edited by Alexander Masters, who went on to write Stuart: A Life Backward. It tells the story of Stuart Shorter, a homeless man Alexander met during his time as an academic in Cambridge.

Tom went on to star in the film of the book — and this led to his involvement with homeless issues in the city. First he became a patron of the Willow Walker and he is now performing the same role for Flack.)

But Flack is just one of Tom’s many big-hearted charitable endeavors.

He’s also an ambassador for The Prince’s Trustwhich helps disadvantaged young people, and a patron, along with Charlotte Riley, of Bowel Cancer UK. He supports the wonderful military charity Help for Heroes (here is the link to Tom’s pageand Breakthrough Breast Cancer (both were beneficiaries of his Siberian adventure), with fundraising, visits to hospitals and much more.

You can VOTE for Tommy as many times as you like, until March 15th. Support!

It was Sir Elton John’s 14th White Tie and Tiara Ball last night. Our exclusive R8 Spyder, which was personalised by British actor Tom Hardy, raised £160,000 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Cheers. I’d like to know all the ways this was personalised…!

Tom Hardy & Charlotte Riley was at a reception at 10 Downing street yesterday, for the charity Bowel Cancer UK:

120 people were invited to No.10 to join Samantha Cameron including architect Lord Foster, Hollywood actor Tom Hardy, actress Charlotte Riley, TV presenter Julia Bradbury, Cricketer Chris Read, news presenter Charlene White and Chef Aldo Zilli as well as leading cancer medics, corporate and private donors to help raise awareness of bowel cancer.
Actor Tom Hardy and actress Charlotte Riley said: “”We are honoured to be invited to this event. Bowel Cancer UK is an important charity and that’s why we’re here.”
I love that most events which Tom turns up at  - that aren’t connected to his own films -  are related to charity. :)

Here’s what was under the hat — I think Tom was growing his hair out for Mad Max at the time. I wonder if 2012 Mad Max will have long hair (in addition to the Methuselahbeard).

Here’s a lovely writeup from the launch issue of FLACK magazine about meeting Tom (FLACK’s patron) at the Bronson screening/FLACK fundraiser in Cambridge (9 May 2010).
I’m sure Jude Evens was not the only “slightly enamored” one!

It’s from weeks ago, but I’m reprising because of this writeup I found. I love the bit about Tom “giving a good mood.” Of course, he did. :o)))

Tom Hardy attended the premiere of “So, the War” in Yakutsk

The eve of Valentine’s Day was memorable for residents of one of the coldest cities in Russia—Yakutsk. And all because of a February evening when the usual unsuspecting visitors to the cinema “Lena” witnessed an unexpected event. Arriving at the premiere of a romantic action-movie So the War (THIS MEANS WAR), they found in the cinema foyer the leading actor and Hollywood celebrity Tom Hardy. Dressed simply and inconspicuously, he could hardly be distinguished from ordinary moviegoers that had come to the premiere.
Tom mingled with a crowd of people who accumulated around him. The actor behaved in a very friendly manner, signing autographs, chatting with visitors, taking part in a tea party, which created an unusually friendly atmosphere at the premiere. At the end of the screening, Hardy left the theater and went to rest in his hotel, giving viewers a good mood.
As it turned out, the actor had arrived in Yakutsk to shoot a reality show for British television, and at the same time he attended the premiere of his new movie.

The Sakha press site (thanks for the heads up to fabulousTomHardy) has some great photos by Bolot Bochkarev that show what it was like for Tom and Mika Salo in Siberia. Incredibly beautiful, incredibly cold; reindeer herds and ice on the fire. (And is that a dog that Tom almost adopted? ;) )

From Oymyakon with love: beautiful deer, blue river and Tom Hardy (90 photos)

For two days Bolot stayed with the Cherkashin family of herders. He got acquainted with the life of local residents, traveled through the mountains and rivers on the reindeer. By the way, he also met there with the famous Hollywood actor Tom Hardy, who, along with the crew “Discovery,” was traveling to the Pole of Cold.

From Oimyakon Bolot came back with love and a mass of photos…
