For 30 years Annand has been photographing actors and actresses in their dressing rooms before performances, capturing those final tense moments before the star hits the stage. It’s a moment filled with fear and anticipation, confidence and self-doubt, when the actor is not wholly himself but has not yet stepped out onto the stage to become his character.

Even though these Greg Williams images are everywhere already, I want to single out this one to repost. It’s a photo that reminds me why I passionately love still photography. In an age of digital manipulation, it’s exciting to see a man’s personality captured this honestly in a creative fraction of a second.
